Services Set For Wyckoff Athlete Ben Landel, 18

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Services have been set for Wyckoff athlete Ben Landel, who died after a months-long battle with cancer on Jan. 25 at 18 years old.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 2 at St. Elizabeth's RC Church on Wyckoff Ave. A funeral mass celebrating Landel's life will be Feb. 3 at 10 a.m., at the church.

Landel was born in Ridgewood to Rob and Tricia Landel on Nov. 12, 1999.

As a talented soccer player and accomplished distance runner at Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, Landel contributed to County, Sectional and State Championship wins as a member of the boys soccer team. 

Landel also broke numerous school records and received League, County and State honors in Track and Field.

He is survived by his parents, Patricia and Robert Landel of Wyckoff; brother Jack Landel; sister Veronica Landel; grandparents Lynn and Walter Rickard of Edison, and Robert Landel of Upper Saddle River; aunts and uncles Laura Leonard and Derek Landel of Ramsey, Susie and Fred Kinch of Westfield and Cristina and Jack Rickard of Ohio; cousins, Ella and Madigan Landel, Freddy, Charlie and August Kinch and Liam and Jamie Rickard.
